Puka Puka Saturday brunch 2024 review at Trader Vic’s Hilton The Palm

D

Another Saturday, another brunch in Dubai’s endless sea of weekend feasts—this time, we found ourselves diving headfirst into Trader Vic’s “Puka Puka Brunch” at The Hilton Palm Jumeirah.

And trust me, this is not just any brunch; it’s a full-on tropical escape, complete with island vibes and enough food to make you rethink ever skipping breakfast again.

Let’s talk details: Puka Puka brunch kicks off every Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm. Packages start at AED 350 if you’re going the sober route, but let’s be real, Trader Vic’s is famous for their drinks, so we opted for the AED 499 house package—worth every dirham, and you’re wanting to splurge opt for the AED 599  bubbly package. If you’ve got kids under 12, they’re covered for AED 99, which is a steal considering the feast they’re in for.

Now, if you’ve ever been to a Trader Vic’s (and who in Dubai hasn’t?), you already know the vibe—tiki drinks, vibrant décor, and food that’s somehow both indulgent and refreshing. But the Puka Puka Brunch takes it up a notch with a buffet that’s basically a passport to the Pacific Islands.

Start with their signature Tidbits and Pupus—think Jalapeño Cheese Balls that were surprisingly not spicy at all, Duck Gyoza that might just ruin all other gyozas for you. Feeling fancy? Add a Ceviche Corner to that – Cured salmon and yellowfin tuna on the menu!

And don’t even get me started on the salads (I know, who actually likes salads? *Me!). The Spicy Roasted Duck Salad was a surprising favorite, with just the right kick to wake up your taste buds. For those craving some sushi, the Japanese Corner delivers with rolls that are as visually stunning as they are delicious.

Meat lovers, you’re in for a treat. The Oven Roasted Duck and Braised Chicken in Honey-Soy Spices were tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. But the real showstopper? The PORK CORNER. Yes, you read that right.

Trader Vic’s at Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah is the first in the UAE with a pork license, and they’re not holding back. The BBQ Glazed Pork Spare Ribs and Lechon Belly Roulade had me wishing I had a second stomach.

And just when you think you can’t possibly eat another bite, the live station reels you in with fresh-off-the-grill Chicken, Beef, and Lamb Kebabs. Plus, their Cast Iron Pot section—Pan-Seared Seabass with Mongolian Sauce and Northern Style Sweet & Sour Chicken—had us going back for seconds (and thirds).

For dessert, Trader Vic’s delivers the sweet goods. The Panna Cotta with Lychee Compote was a standout, but honestly, I was too busy chasing down the popsicle cart to pay much attention. And yes, there’s a popsicle cart, so everyone gets their own without any of that awkward sharing business.

And while the food is enough to keep you satisfied, it’s the live band that really turns the brunch into a party. By the end, we were all up and dancing, completely caught up in the island spirit.

In a city overflowing with brunch options, Trader Vic’s Puka Puka Brunch is a breath of fresh, tropical air.

It’s the perfect spot to escape the Dubai heat, indulge in some seriously good food, and let loose with friends or family. So, whether you’re a Trader Vic’s veteran or a first-timer, this brunch is one you don’t want to miss. Just don’t blame me when you’re craving it every Saturday from now on.
